Paesaggio d'Inverno
In Paesaggio d'Inverno (Winter Landscape), Remoi’s Natura Futura collection explores the theme of glacial stillness through a symphony of cold tones and rarefied atmospheres. In this work, the artist moves away from the tension of geometric cubes to immerse himself in a figuration celebrating the majesty of pristine nature, successfully conveying the deafening silence typical of high latitudes after a snowfall.
The composition is structured in overlapping horizontal planes that guide the eye toward a dreamlike horizon. The background features a sky that softly fades from a clear blue to a pastel pink, suggesting the faint light of a winter dawn or sunset. Below, a mountain range with sharp peaks stands out, where Remoi’s textural technique reaches heights of great realism: the whites and grays are applied with a gestural force that physically models the rock and snow, making the mountains the solid pillar of the entire scene.
The center of the canvas is occupied by a body of water or a frozen lake, rendered with strokes of vivid blue and turquoise. The water's surface is not smooth but appears rippled, almost crystallized by a sudden frost, creating a vibrant contrast with the dark, wooded bank separating it from the mountains. In the foreground, the bare trees on the right—resembling white skeletons reaching their branches toward the sky—dialogue with the lusher, greener vegetation on the left, creating a balance between the life that resists and the life that has fallen asleep. Paesaggio d'Inverno is an invitation to contemplation, a fragment of a world that, in its future, chooses to preserve the purity of the elements as a supreme form of beauty.
