Passato

With Passato (Past), Remoi’s Destruct Construct collection addresses the theme of time in an explicit and almost obsessive manner. It is not merely a reflection on memory, but a literal staging of the inevitability of passing minutes, where real objects become part of the pictorial medium to freeze a moment in time.

Passato is a chaotic and vibrant work, an explosion of energy that seems to fight against the static nature of history. Splashes of solar yellow, white, and deep blue erupt against the dark, textural background typical of the series. The action painting technique is pushed to the limit here: splashes and drips intertwine like threads of disordered thoughts.

The beating heart of the work is the inclusion of numerous real wristwatches, embedded directly into the paint. Some are submerged in color, while others emerge with their metal or leather straps, creating a three-dimensional relief that transforms the canvas into an artifact of contemporary archaeology. Each watch represents a fragment of life—an individual "past" that now lives within a collective artistic present.
