Quadrati Arlecchino
In Quadrati Arlecchino (Harlequin Squares), Remoi's new Arlecchino collection continues its exploration of color and geometry, shifting focus toward a more defined and rhythmic structure. The painting radiates a vibrant solar quality, transforming the concept of the diamond-patterned costume into a modern and rigorous mosaic.
The canvas is dominated by two wide lateral bands of intense, luminous primary yellow, applied with a flat finish that enhances the background's vibrancy. In the center, a vertical column unfolds, composed of squares and rectangles of various sizes whose colors — blue, red, green, ochre, and brown — are separated by bold black outlines. This central section appears as a chromatic stained-glass window, where each textural piece contributes to a dynamic and joyful balance.
On the yellow sections, Remoi intervenes with thin, irregular vertical black strokes, accompanied by small raised black droplets. These graphic elements, typical of the artist's style, break the uniformity of the background and lend a sense of verticality and dynamism to the work. Quadrati Arlecchino is a celebration of creative order, a piece where geometry becomes play and color turns into pure vital energy.
